Rainbow JH2
In 2007 Dykstra & Partners Naval Architects were requested to re-design Rainbow according to the original design of William Starling Burgess but now as an aluminium boat with carbon spars and rigging and 3 DL racing sails.
To allow chartering she will be built under Lloyds A1 and MCA.
A unique feature is the diesel-electric propulsion system. There will be no main engine but two generators which can deliver 350Kw on the propeller.
The interior design is done by her owner and developed by Dykstra & Partners.
There will be a permanent professional crew of seven, who can cater for eight to ten guests. The racing crew will be 25 to 28. Quite a number of them are needed to handle the giant spinnaker (950m2).
